Women to turn the Country Liberal Party around in
“For the first time in Northern Territory history, women now lead both major political parties after Jodeen Carney was chosen yesterday to head the opposition Country Liberal Party. Ms Carney, 39 is the first female leader of the once male dominated CLP, which also chose a woman, Fay Miller, as its deputy leader in the aftermath of its crushing election defeat this month.” Canberra Times June 28, 2005.
Another glass cliff? Research presented at last year’s Senior Women Executives and Workplace Cultures conference provided evidence of women being given leadership when a company (or political party) is in crisis. A precarious place to be indeed – thank God for women, but perhaps it wouldn’t be in crisis if the helm was given over earlier?
